About the Opportunity:
Leading a team of digital designers, the Director of Digital Experience will be responsible for discovery through concepting and implementation of the user experience across university digital assets, serving a spectrum of audience segments. Additionally, this role is responsible for creating tools for scaling the user experience while realizing digital governance, cost and time efficiency goals.

This role is responsible for guiding the entirety of the design process through its completion by presenting to stakeholders and working seamlessly with developers to ensure accurate implementation.

This position is located at the Boston campus and is not eligible for remote work. After-hours work, including weekends and holidays, is routinely required.

Responsibilities:
  • Aid Vice President for Marketing in establishing an actionable digital vision and 3-5 year roadmap aligned with university priorities

  • Partner with marketing colleagues and university stakeholders to understand business objectives and audience needs, goals, motivations, and behaviors

  • Embed with ITS digital group as part of the university digital governance model

  • Develop cohesive design and experience throughout our digital ecosystem, guiding and mentoring others as needed

  • Create story boards, sitemaps, wireframes, prototypes

  • Ensure brand implications are considered through the design process, documenting necessary decisions as standard

  • Develop tools for realizing efficiency and adherence to digital governance standards

  • Manage in-house team of digital designers and content strategists

  • Manage agency partners in alignment brand standards and experience vision

  • Critique in-progress design work, evaluating the priority and effectivity of solutions and maintaining a standard of quality

  • Coach team through reviews and feedback and support their UX/UI growth

  • Raise the capacity, skills and quality of user-centered design

  • Lead user research and/or direct research goals, methodologies and output quality
  • Develop Personas and user profile

  • Create empathy or journey maps

  • Conduct usability testing

  • Evaluate performance metrics and provide recommendations for optimizing results

    Qualifications:
  • 10+ years experience in user-experience, visual interface design and/or product management
  • Demonstrated ability for design to support the intersection of business and user goals
  • Ability to create clean, visually consistent designs from concept to completion.
  • In-depth knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office; Experience with Sketch and InVision.
  • Mastery of standard user interface design concepts, trends and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts clearly and persuasively across diverse audiences at various levels of our organization.
  • Have contributed as a leader in design and a strong collaborator across disciplines.
  • Expertise in creating wireframes, visual mockups graphics, user workflows, and low
    and high-fidelity prototypes.
