About the Opportunity:
Northeastern University - San Jose is hiring a part-time Operations Assistant at its 4N 2nd St. location in San Jose downtown. Those with schedule flexibility and interest in higher education are strongly encouraged to apply.

Reporting to the Assistant Director /Campus Operations Manager, this position manages the front desk and ensures that students and faculty are appropriately set up to conduct classes. It responds to requests from current and prospective students, professors, and event attendees, and follows up with them to ensure satisfaction, all while approaching each encounter in a courteous and service-oriented manner.

This is a part-time/temporary position at $17 an hour with minimum of 17-20 hours required per week. The position starts June 1st, 2021 through October 19th 2021 with the possibility of an extension. Typical shifts include weekdays between 11am - 9pm and weekends between 8am - 5pm or 9pm (Monday through Sunday schedule is separated into schedule shifts 5hrs each), with the ability to flex to accommodate additional/other hours as needed.

Staff will be responsible for managing the front desk reception area and greeting and checking students in for classes. Candidate will provide support for faculty, particularly ensuring appropriate classroom setup and return of checked-out resources. Being the first point of contact at the front desk, you will respond to requests and questions from current students and professors.

  • Provide customer service and technical support for students and faculty
  • Assist with classroom and technical equipment setup
  • Support on-campus events as-needed basis
  • Maintain campus appearance in a clean and organized manner
  • Stock necessary materials in kitchen and printer areas

  • At least 1 year of administrative office experience, preferably in higher education

  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal and communication skills, especially with a diverse community

  • Flexible yet detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy

  • Positive attitude with a constant commitment to excellence

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to quickly learn in a technical environment, particularly operating video conferencing software and equipment like printers, copiers, and computers

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, specifically a working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets
