Position Summary:
Job Summary The Associate Director of the SU Annual Fund will work with others in the department and division to assist with the identification, qualification, solicitation and cultivation of prospective donors to the university to achieve increased levels of annual support and participation from alumni, parents, and other donors. The Associate Director will also plan, manage, execute, and evaluate special annual fund campaigns and affinity group fund-raising. Specific Responsibilities
  • Organize, plan, manage and assist the Director of the SU Fund with campaigns that result in increased alumni giving participation and annual fund dollars, including but not limited to:o One SU Day of Givingo 30 in 30 (athletics fundraising campaign)o Academic department/school fund-raising campaignso Crowd Fundingo Give Away Mailingso Business and Industry
  • Plan and execute fund-raising and engagement within affinity groups, including but not limited to the Alumni of Color Advisory Council, Athletics Ring of Honor, Athletics Hall of Fame, alumni awards, parents, and regional alumni chapters.
  • Conduct face-to-face visits and solicitations from a pool of suspects to gauge interest and capacity in giving to Susquehanna University, with a goal of soliciting leadership level gifts at $1,000 or more. The Associate Director will manage a pool of annual fund donors.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the Datatel/Colleague Advancement data base system and Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Management to research, enter and track information about donors and prospects.
  • Work with all members of the division as appropriate to advance the goals of the university. This will include work as assigned for such events as Homecoming, Family Weekend, Break Through, Alumni Board Meetings, the Milestones donor relations event, the Scholarship dinner and other similar events and activities that promote the mission and vision of the university.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Susquehanna University Fund and the Advancement Division by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Required Qualifications:
    Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesExcellent organizational and project management skills, excellent interpersonal, writing, and speaking skills, excellent telephone and conversation skills, proficiency with database software, e-mail, calendar and Microsoft Office, ability to manage multiple tasks, ability to effectively interact with alumni, parents, students, faculty, and administration, ability to work independently and take initiative, ability, and willingness to travel. EducationBachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. ExperienceThree years’ work experience in philanthropic fundraising, nonprofit organizations, public relations, advertising, marketing, or a related field required. Additional RequirementsOccasional evening and weekend work required, as well as overnight travel. This position requires a valid driver’s license, and the ability to drive and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle.
    Physical Demand Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional stooping, crouching, and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift to 10 pounds. Working conditions are primarily indoor.
