About the Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Planning & Projects in the Project Management Office, the temporary Project Manager will advise, consult and guide the project management process for large scale, complex, cross-organizational, educational projects. The person in this role will work closely with stakeholders in defining the project scope, schedule and budget and will oversee the entire project lifecycle.

This position requires confidence, self-discipline, a sense of urgency, and the ability to be innovative, make decisions and take responsibility for them. As a Project Manager, you will need to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions, identifying risks and recommending solutions. This position requires strong analytical and technical abilities and demands fast, but carefully thought-out results to guide project teams to meet goals and delivery high quality work. The job demands a factual, direct style of communication and significant self-discipline with attention to detail. There is a strong demand for high quality, organized and repeatable results. The responsibilities are broad in scope, encompassing a wide variety of activities requiring rapid shifts in priorities.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with project sponsor and stakeholders to assess the business case for a project against divisional goals and assessment criteria.

Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders in the definition of project scope and objectives

Articulate complex projects into detailed project documentation, identifying structured phases and sprints to prioritize speed, improvements and enhancements.

Monitor and track progress of projects, reporting on performance using appropriate tools and techniques

Formally manage changes to the project scope, schedule and budget.

Formally identify and manage project risk, reporting and escalating issues to management as needed.

Manage the relationship with the sponsor and all stakeholders ensuring the implementation of a formal communication plan.

Manage project resources, making adjustments and improvements to project delivery to address constraints.

Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 5-10 years of leading complex projects (5 years in an educational setting).

Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

Proven working experience in a variety of project management concepts, practices and procedures.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills

Strong planning skills applied using Smartsheets and other relevant software
