About the Opportunity:

Position location: Boston, MA
Position dates: July-December 2021
The N.U.in Program began in 2007 as a unique opportunity for first-year students accepted to Northeastern University for Spring Admission. Students study at one of our N.U.in partner institutions during the Fall semester and fully enter as Northeastern Students in Boston, MA during the Spring Semester.

N.U.in students typically study abroad their first semester, but in 2020 the N.U.in Boston program was established as a transformative response to a challenging year. N.U.in Boston offers students an opportunity to embrace the theme of cultural engagement at a U.S.-based location. Students who join the N.U.in Boston cohort will participate in excursions and community focused programming that highlights the intersecting cultures of a diverse American city and gives them a deeper understanding of their place in the world.

The N.U.in Boston Coordinator position is a short-term commitment with full workdays in Boston for the Fall 2021 semester. This position also requires virtual attendance during a mandatory training period beginning July 2021. This is an in-person position that requires site staff to live in the student accommodation with students during the fall 2021 semester, which runs from August - December 2021.

Responsibilities:

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate evening and weekend student programs and excursions
  • Encourage student academic success, respond to student concerns and connect students to on-site academic, medical and mental health resources
  • Monitor student behavioral policies and protocols, upholding a high standard of student conduct
  • Maintain the safety and well-being of the participants by serving in a 24/7 on-call rotation and conducting regular monitoring of student residences
  • Support on-site operations and facilities management such as staffing in-person office hours, overseeing student package and mail distribution, managing student lock-outs, etc.
    N.U.in Boston Coordinators will work collaboratively to ensure students' safety and well-being and contribute to the development and overall success of the program.

Qualifications:

These highly demanding positions require a significant amount of patience, flexibility, assertiveness, diplomacy, self-initiative, as well as substantial residential life experience and an ability to excel under challenging conditions while efficiently accomplishing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree preferred in relevant fields such as Higher Education, International Education or Student Development
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated student service experience or higher education experience in a residence life or student affairs capacity, which includes experience living with or working with high school or undergraduate students (in residence life, student affairs, camp counselor, or related role)
  • Experience promoting diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to demonstrate intercultural sensitivity and global awareness
  • Demonstrated flexibility and experience with crisis management
  • Proven ability to work well as a member of a close-knit team
  • Experience managing events for large groups with enthusiasm and attention to detail
  • Fluent in English
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain any required work authorization for the duration of your appointment
  • Location/area expertise preferred
