Job Description

  • The Business Coordinator I at Harte Research Institute, under general supervision, provides support and coordination of a variety of business activities requiring independent judgment, including reviewing business documents and assisting in developing, monitoring, and reporting accounts and budget data as directed by supervisor.


Research Administration
  • Assist in allocating payroll to grant accounts in accordance with time and effort.
  • Prepare and submit tuition payment request for grant and department accounts each semester.
  • Assist and prepare monthly summaries for Senior Executive Director, HRI Chairs, and Senior Staff.
  • Monitor accounts monthly for errors and route corrective actions for approval as needed.
  • Review accounts for clean up and removal.

  • Prepare and route hiring and personnel changes in Workday.
  • Serve as a liaison with financial, payroll, research office, and/or human resources as needed.
  • Coordinate/backup coordinate travel for all HRI staff, students, and executive management as requested. Including but not limited to routing requests, booking travel, routing expense reports, and facilitating changes, and delivering keys for rental cars.
  • Monitor accounts monthly for errors and route corrective actions for approval as needed.
  • Review accounts for clean up and removal.
  • Assist in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring business programs or services.
  • Back up to purchasing and procurement card reconciliation.
  • Participates in the training of business staff and/or student workers and may provide supervision. Trains staff on new and existing business procedures and interprets policies and regulations for staff.

  • Assist with HRI on/off boarding duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Two (2) years related experience.
  • Additional experience may be used as a substitution for the minimum education requirements:
    • High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience.
    • Associates degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Detail oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge and/or experience of TAMUCC/State/Governmental accounting and administrative procedures.
  • Experience working with FAMIS/Canopy, Concur, Argos, and Workday.
  • Experience with Uniform Guidance.
