Job Description:
The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) at Weber State University invites qualified applicants to apply for a nine-month tenure-track faculty position. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching clinical hematology in the campus and online degree programs. Additional responsibilities will include advising potential and current MLS students, mentoring MLS undergraduate research students, and other course assignments as necessary.

Job Duties:


Required Qualifications:
BS in MLS/CLS
Current MT/MLS ASCP certification
Two years of laboratory experience as a generalist or in clinical hematology
Excellent computer skills and comfortable teaching in an online environment
Experience with word-processing, spreadsheets, and online education software

Preferred Qualifications:
A master’s or doctoral degree in MLS/CLS or related field is preferred. If the candidate does not have a master’s degree, they must commit to a master’s program within one year of hiring and complete the degree within three years of starting the position. At least two years of teaching hematology at the college level, as well as more then two years of clinical laboratory experience in hematology is preferred. Work experience as a laboratory supervisor or in a leadership role is desirable.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
