University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We're responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, “non-exempt”, non-benefited position through September 29, 2021 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance). 2 positions available -One available in Palm Desert and one in Colton.

Salary: $14.00 to $16.00 per hour.

Location: Palm Desert, CA and Colton, CA

Department Summary:

The Inland Empire and Coachella Valley Women's Business Centers are programs of the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship (IECE) at the Jack H. Brown College of Business at CSUSB. The WBCs are a federal program partially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) & the California Governor's Office of Business & Economic Development (GO-Biz). The WBCs are operated by IECE though CSUSB's University Enterprises Corporation (UEC) which provides the administrative, accounting, financial, human resources and support structures for research and grant funded programs at the University. The mission of the Women's Business Center is counsel, teach, encourage, and inspire women business owners at every stage of development and expansion. The WBC vision is empowerment through entrepreneurship. The WBC offers webinars, business counseling, and programs to entrepreneurs and small business owners in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties with offices in Colton (IEWBC) and Palm Desert (CVWBC).

Work Schedule

19 hours per week. Schedule to be arranged, but typically, Monday-Friday between 9:00 am - 6:00 pm though some nights, weekend work may be required. Incumbent must be able to participate in remote or on campus work depending on the directives from the CSUSB campus.

First Review Deadline

This position will remain open until filled. Applications will be reviewed beginning May 27, 2021.

Under minimal supervision of the Lead Project Coordinator, the Business Counseling Administrative Support will work independently to perform the following.

The incumbent will perform tasks such as:
  • Data entry, managing multiple business counselors' calendars;
  • Make appointment reminder calls, maintain detailed client records;
  • Act as a liaison between clients and business counselors, regularly report business counseling metrics to the lead program coordinator;
  • Operate multiple computer systems, retrieve business specific information from clients in a timely manner;
  • Collect reviews and responses from clients on business counseling services, create spreadsheets and handouts,
  • Keep business counseling descriptions on the website up-to-date, and remain informed with expectations for business counseling to ensure the WBC's meet grant expectations;
  • Will assistant the director or training coordinator in maintaining records of business counseling to best meet grant required metrics;
  • Will aid in the preparation and implementation of all business counseling activity at the WBCs and work closely with business counselors to best support them in their efforts to provide quality business counseling;
  • The incumbent will perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Entrepreneurship, Business, Management, or a related business field.
  • Experience: 6 months experience in office support. Applicants must have knowledge of: Computers, Acuity Scheduling Software, Neoserra, Outlook, Zoom, Excel, Entrepreneurial Technical Assistance, a basic understanding of Entrepreneurship, principles and practices of data and analytics, the ability to present detailed information to others and report writing. .
  • Other: Applicants must have the ability to analyze the operational aspects of a business; express ideas clearly and effectively in oral and written communications; develop and conduct oral presentations for groups; schedule appointments for clients based on need; work cooperatively with persons from diverse economic and social backgrounds; maintain accurate records; prepare clear and concise reports; keep apprised of federal, state and local and program regulations and policies; learn new computer applications; and maintain open and effective working relationships with staff and services clients and groups, other professionals and the public. Applicants must be computer literate and have good typing skills. Ability to access information and respond accordingly, a willingness to remain informed on large amounts of information, and proficiency in the latest versions of Microsoft Office Suite is required. Applicants must be sensitive to the needs of a diverse client base.
