Associate Professor (WOT) or Professor (WOT) and Medical Director Harborview Medical Center Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit - Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine

The University of Washington's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine invites applications for a physician to join our neuro-rehabilitation faculty based at Harborview Medical Center with potential to serve as Medical Director of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. This will be a full-time appointment with an annual service period of 12 months (July 1 – June 30), appointed at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (commensurate with experience and qualifications) in the Clinician-Educator or Clinician-Scientist pathway, without tenure due to funding. Anticipated start is late 2021 or early 2022.  

Our patient and family-centered academic hospital-based rehabilitation program offers tertiary care for a five-state region, serving a wide range of diagnoses. This position practices in a collaborative and multidisciplinary academic environment. Opportunities will be available for building an academic career that includes clinical care, teaching, research opportunities, and program development.    

This position will provide inpatient rehabilitation care, inpatient consults, and outpatient clinical services to a broad range of patients. There is potential for this position to serve as Medical Director of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Harborview Medical Center and provide Quality Improvement leadership in rehabilitation.

Qualifications
  • MD, DO, or foreign equivalent and eligible for full medical licensure in Washington state  
  • Board certification or eligibility for Board Certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation  
  • Successful completion of residency training in an accredited PM&R program   
  • Proven track record of clinical expertise in rehabilitation, especially acute inpatient rehabilitation 

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
