Malcolm X College is seeking a Clincial Director – Welleness Center. City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and fice satellite sites. Providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.

The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) Wellness Centers provide counseling, case management and other mental health and social services to support students in maintaining their personal well-being and achieving their academic goals.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to the Dean of Student Services/Development, a Clinical Director - Wellness Center manages a college’s Wellness Center, responsible for all program areas and activities to include clinical services, outreach, consultation and fiscal and administrative functions.

A Clinical Director - Wellness Center oversees programs that support the mental health and well-being of students, supervising a staff of Clinical Counselors in the delivery and provision of counseling and case management services to students, faculty and staff. Accountable for implementing CCC policies to guide decision making and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to mental health delivery systems and the confidentiality of mental health information. Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provides direction and guidance to staff in the provision of all licensed social services including psycho-social wellness services, crisis/triage assessments, psychological hospitalizations, advocacy and connections to community resource centers.
  • Manages the day to day operations of the Wellness Center, working with district staff in creating policies and procedures and innovative methods of service delivery based on the needs of students, staff and faculty. Manages budgets, data collection and communications/marketing and administrative functions.
  • Creates and implements health and wellness initiatives and leads outreach efforts to educate students, faculty and staff on the availability and the range of mental health and psycho-social support services offered by the Wellness Center.
  • Supervises professional staff to include Clinical Counselors and Staff Psychologists providing counseling and case management services including crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, stress and time management coaching, connection to public benefits and community resources and confidential sexual harassment/assault support.
  • Develops, conducts and facilitates workshops and presentations to address topics of health and wellness violence prevention, and other identified needs and issues important to academic and personal success.
  • Facilitates professional development opportunities for staff to remain abreast of best practices in mental health and case management services; trains staff on Supportive Intervention Team (SIT) behavioral threat assessment procedures.
  • Participates in the interviewing and hiring of Wellness Center staff. Establishes performance standards and conducts performance evaluations. Administers personnel procedures including progressive discipline as required.
  • Oversees the center’s graduate level internship and practicum training program, providing clinical supervision to therapists-in-training. Maintains relationships with Chicago area educational institutions and coordinates annual hiring of therapists-in-training.
  • Serves as a consultant to college staff and faculty for student development issues, behavioral threat assessment, classroom behavioral management, and the overall behavioral health of the college community.
  • Serves on committees to develop policies to ensure compliance with Title IX and other related legislation; works to ensure campus community is informed about violence prevention and how to respond to violence, sexual harassment or assault.
  • Oversees the maintenance of case records and data and creates reports on services provided utilizing the Titanium medical records system.
  • Ensures the maintenance of a secure, accessible system of confidential medical records in compliance with applicable standards of practices and state and federal laws.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with state and federal laws and professional ethics regarding provisions of services, clinical competency, recordkeeping and confidentiality.
  • Implements procedures for the provision of virtual services, ensuring adherence to clinical, ethical, federal and state laws and best practices in compliance with CDC.
  • Maintains licensure and complies with continuing education as required by the IL Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • Develops, maintains and oversees relationships with community partners and facilitates their provision of services and financial resources to students on campus.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctorate degree (Ph.D., Psy.D.) in Psychology from an accredited college or university, OR a Master’s degree in Social Work (M.S.W.); OR a Master’s degree (M.A., M.S., M.Ed.) in Counseling Psychology.
  • Must be currently licensed by the State of Illinois as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or a Clinical Psychologist
  • Five years of program administration experience in a student counseling center within an urban commuter college or university environment is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated professional experience in the provision of counseling services and the supervision of counseling staff
  • Knowledge of community resources and social service agencies
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse student body, faculty and staff
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues in an appropriate manner
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
