Governors State University’s ( GSU ) College of Education invites applications for an assistant, tenure-track professor in the counseling program to begin in August 2022. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Division of Psychology and Counseling. The counseling program includes specializations in clinical mental health, marital, couple, and family counseling, school counseling, and a doctorate in counselor education and supervision. Applicants will be expected to teach masters and doctoral courses that may include students from across the College of Education. Course load may also include undergraduate courses.

GSU serves as a public square, working to foster educational opportunities for all populations. Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision ( ABD considered) or a degree in a related field with a minimum of one full academic year of experience teaching in a CACREP -accredited program before July 1, 2013.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Doctorate degree in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program by time of appointment;
2. Teaching experience in a CACREP -accredited counselor education program;
3. Experience teaching in a counseling doctoral program;
4. Specialization in school counseling and/or a specialization in Marriage Couple and Family Therapy and related experience
5. Professional educator license ( PEL ), LPC and/or LMFT eligibility in State of Illinois
6. Experience directing dissertations
7. Ability to teach research methods or statistics
8. Experience with underserved populations
