Haverford College invites applications to our available exempt, full time (at least 37.5 hours per week) benefit eligible Program Manager position.

The Program Manager is in charge of planning, coordination, and logistics for HCAH programming and operations, with special responsibility for the following initiatives: Faculty Humanities Seminar, Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships, Mellon Symposium and other Humanities Forums, Reading Groups, Faculty Curricular Development Grants, Student Seminars, Summer Internships and Student Research Fellowships. The Program Manager coordinates public events, hires and supervises student workers in support of HCAH programs, collaborates with on- and off-campus partners and organizations, and acts as the public face of the Center's office in the Visual Culture, Arts, and Media building (VCAM).

Essential Functions & Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating public symposia (including the annual Mellon Fellows Symposium, and symposia related to Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery exhibitions), arts events, and receptions, and being present before start of events
  • Working with Associate Director (A.D.) and Finance and Administrative Assistant (F.A.A.) to plan and manage budgets for HCAH programs and individual events
  • Administering grants and gathering reports from faculty and student grantees and program participants and making them available to the Director and Associate Director
  • Assisting the Director in the annual search for a Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Humanities hosted by HCAH
  • Providing support for the annual Faculty Humanities Seminar
  • Working with staff in other areas at Haverford College (Dean of the College, Conferences and Events, Distinguished Visitors Office, Dining Center, Audio-Visual, etc.); coordinating schedules and arranging logistical support for events and programs with assistance of the F.A.A.
  • Acting as liaison with speakers, artists, performers, and other visitors sponsored by HCAH, handling logistics and other requirements with assistance of the F.A.A.; assuming primary responsibility for processing Center payments/reimbursements and coordinating travel during the F.A.A.'s absence in July and August
  • In coordination with the A.D., maintaining the Center's website, including an active, current online calendar
  • Administering the Center's Summer Research and Internship Programs and assisting with logistics for all HCAH summer programming, including logistical support for the Summer DocuLabs initiative
  • Assisting the A.D. with publicity for events sponsored by the Center (including website, posters, fliers, press releases, and other announcements) in coordination with the Director and with Communications staff at College
  • Meets regularly with AD and AD, Campus Exhibitions & Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery to assign tasks for Center's Post-Baccalaureate Fellow (two-year early career fellowship supporting all aspects of Center work)
  • Developing mailing lists of individuals interested in Center programs across alumni and public
  • Preparing agendas and taking notes for meetings of the Steering Committee
  • Hiring and supervising student workers in support of HCAH programs and facilities, including the VCAM Community Kitchen
  • Fielding faculty and student questions in the VCAM 104 office hub


Line of Report: The Program Manager reports to the Associate Director, HCAH and VCAM Operations Manager, with a dotted line to the Koshland Director.

Education, Training, & Experience:

A Bachelor's degree, background in the arts or humanities, at least three years' experience managing projects, programming, and event planning.
