The Skidmore Early Childhood Center has a teacher opening. This is a full time, 10 months per year position, teaching a four-year old class and afternoon Pre-K class.

Teacher responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Plan, develop and implement play-based, inclusive, developmentally appropriate, emergent curriculum
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
  • Mentoring college students working in the classroom for work study and course lab hours
  • Communicate effectively, positively and regularly with families
  • Work as part of a team: participate in staff meetings, support peers, work respectfully and collaboratively with teaching staff, communicate effectively with teachers and director
  • Participate in Education Studies Department events relating to students
  • Participate in events sponsored by the Early Childhood Center


Teacher qualifications include:

  • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • NYS Elementary and B-2 Certification
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience in early childhood education
  • Experience mentoring college students preferred
  • Show evidence of a commitment to child-centered and developmentally appropriate early childhood education
  • Continued professional development is required and supported

Salary Range: $35,000 - $40,000 annual salary commensurate with experience for this 10 months per year position.
