Syracuse University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering ( CEE ) is
seeking an adjunct professor to teach a course on bridge engineering and design. The expected start date for this position is August 30th, 2021.

Applicants for this position should have knowledge of AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and have experience with the analysis and design of concrete and steel bridges. The successful candidate will be asked to teach a graduate level course on bridge analysis and design that includes topics such as bridge inspection and condition rating, load rating, dead and live load computations, design of superstructure and substructure, consideration of sustainability in design, etc.

The CEE Department at Syracuse University currently has 18 full-time faculty members
engaging in teaching and research in the areas of construction, environmental,
geotechnical, and structural engineering. There are approximately 230 undergraduate and
100 graduate students in our civil and environmental programs. Our department offers
ABET accredited B.S. degrees in both Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as
Middle States accredited M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The Department also has a joint graduate level certificate program in Public Infrastructure Management and Leadership with Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.

Applicants should be familiar with the AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and have experience with bridge analysis and design. Those who hold a professional license are especially welcomed. Responsibilities
Develop and teach a graduate course on bridge analysis and design. Prepare and deliver weekly lectures (in-person or online) to students. Provide and grade assignments, quizzes and exams. Complete course assessments for accreditation. Physical Requirements
