The Department of Music of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) seeks applications for a full-time non-tenure-track position as Lecturer in Voice with a specialization in Musical Theatre and Commercial Styles. Additional duties depend on the candidate’s expertise and department needs but could include teaching music courses such as vocal diction, the direction of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, or production responsibilities (as vocal coach, accompanist, music director, or stage director, for example) for the department’s offerings.

About the Department: The UNCP Department of Music, an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music, offers a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre, a Bachelor of Arts in Music with Music Industry Emphasis, a Bachelor of Arts in Music, and minors in Music, Sacred Music, Jazz Studies, Music Business, Musical Theatre, and Media Integration to approximately 150 music majors and minors. There are eleven full-time faculty, sixteen adjunct faculty, and three full-time staff members. The Department’s mission is to offer all students who have demonstrated interest and ability in music the opportunity to continue further study either for a profession or an avocation. We strive to educate students in such a way that they understand and appreciate music not only as an art form with a rich historical and cultural heritage but as an ongoing, contemporary endeavor that incorporates tradition and technological advancements through individual and group participation.
