The College of Journalism and Communications, is looking for a creative and talented Postdoctoral Associate to join a talented group! We want an experienced and motivated person to join our team.

Post-doctoral associate position in patient registry communications is open in the College of Journalism & Communications at the University of Florida under the direct supervision of Prof. Cynthia Morton, Ph.D. The hired candidate will work as a research assistant on the Florida Aging Registry for Aging Studies grant, conducted in collaboration with team members from Florida International University (FIU), the University of Central Florida (UCF), and the University of Florida (UF). The position entails working collaboratively with the grant team to discover and implement strategies for increasing the number of registered culturally diverse older adults for participation in aging research. The post-doctoral associate will have the opportunity to collaborate with publishing relevant research findings and contribute to the team’s larger goal of improving public health communication to address multicultural aging research in patient registries.

This is an extramurally funded position full-time, 12-month academic position. Reappointment for a second year is likely, contingent on successful performance, funding, and available work. By the start date, applicants should have a PhD. A specialization in mass communications, STEM/health communications, advertising, public health, or a related field is preferred.

  • Demonstrated skills in qualitative and quantitative research method and design.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out independent research.
  • Record of communicating research results via peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
  • Willingness to mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate research assistants.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and student colleagues on the research team.
  • Experience in acquiring and working with text and/or visual data from web sites, social media and other online sources, and print is desired, but not required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
