Job Description:

Job Summary:

Under the supervision and direction of the Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Digital Communications, the Video Content Producer is a highly proactive, productive and creative collaborator primarily responsible for creating video content for the College's digital media channels, supporting the College's visual identity consistent with Curry's mission and brand. The incumbent will work with the Marketing and Communications team and client partners to conceptualize, plan, coordinate, and execute video projects that tell compelling stories about Curry's alumni, students, faculty, and other constituencies for distribution across a variety of College-related digital media. The incumbent will also occasionally be responsible for capturing, processing, and distributing still photography assets. The selected candidate will demonstrate a high level of professionalism and self-motivation, a tendency toward collaboration, a deep respect for the kind of learning that happens at Curry, and a commitment to help make Curry a college of choice. 

Essential Functions:

1. Generation and Delivery of Video Content:

  • Shoots and edits video for projects assigned to serve strategic institutional objectives in the areas of development, recruitment, and retention;
  • Along with delivering "polished" marketing video content, the successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Social Media Specialist to consistently provide short-turnaround, "quick-hit" video content for social media channel distribution;
  • Engages with department colleagues, campus clients, and content subjects to coordinate pre-production - including scheduling, location scouting, initial concept development, storyboard creation, and work plans;
  • Coordinates field-production, filming and directing of all shoots. Implements all elements of a professional shoot as needed, including lighting, audio, and image capture - from concept/creative direction to completion;
  • Proactively guides the post-production process leading to final delivery, including seeking input, addressing feedback and securing final approval from key stakeholders before exporting and delivering files for distribution;
  • Provides video (and occasional photography) coverage for campus-wide activities and events as approved and assigned, which can include nights and weekends;
  • Utilizes all current and emerging technology in videography, graphic animation, and image editing to deliver finished products in accordance with project directives;
  • Maintains and enhances digital media assets library (photo and video) and the Widen Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, including input of metadata and processing files in a timely manner;
  • Maintains Curry College YouTube channel and contributes to other Curry's social media entities as needed;
  • Helps plan/coordinate photo shoots with external vendor partners;
  • Maintains in-house video/photo equipment and inventory;
  • Monitors and maintains currency of on-campus kiosk materials;
  • Helps coordinate digital and print photo distribution.

2. Visual Identity Development, Promotion and Reinforcement:

  • Works both independently and with direction to capture compelling visual stories that best convey Curry's distinctive strengths, adhering to brand standards;
  • Conceives and captures imagery that depicts academics, campus life, and alumni outcomes using creativity, initiative, judgment, and technical skill;
  • Works with communications staff to create innovative visual concepts and assist in selection of visual assets for publication across communication channels such as social, web, email, and print;
  • Balances each project's creative requirements with budget and resources, adhering to deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Maintains ongoing, positive dialogue during creative development with supervisor and internal stakeholders;
  • Continuously strengthens individual capabilities by staying current with industry best practices, new/emerging technologies, and visual media techniques.

3. Student Interns and Contributors:

  • Recruits, supervises, and mentors interns and student contributors to gain insight and practical experience with coordination and delivery of multimedia content, and to develop audience appropriate visuals for marketing efforts that support the College's brand and departmental initiatives.

Additional Functions:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor or his/her designee.  

 

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in communication, film, videography, broadcasting, photography, related areas, or a liberal arts degree with relevant experience;
  • Must possess a minimum of 2 - 5 years of film, videography and/or photography, video/photo editing work experience;
  • Requires a range of demonstrable video and photo production experience. Must provide a portfolio and/or links to relevant video work;
  • Must have experience in editing video and recording audio along with storyboarding, scriptwriting, lighting, synchronizing multiple cameras, and more. Must also possess a solid background in creative brainstorming and execution;
  • Must be highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite including and importantly, Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and proficient in Lightroom or other photo editing software, and may instruct others on usage;
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to diagnose and minimize technical issues in order to optimize shooting time;
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize projects to meet deadlines as well as be part of a team in a fast-paced academic environment, while maintaining careful attention to detail and follow-through. A team spirit is essential;
  • Must have a passion for visual storytelling and take initiative;
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, and be able to facilitate work with a wide range of individuals and groups from diverse campus departments and populations;
  • Ability to communicate well with others, and clearly articulate visual concepts;
  • Possess good time management and organizational skills, and be able to effectively prioritize. Able to deliver high-quality results with attention to detail. Able to work autonomously, swiftly, and effectively on multiple projects;
  • Ability to take direction when needed and take feedback and creative criticism professionally, using it to refine projects;
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible shifts that include evenings and weekends as needed, with varying scheduling lead time. Must be able to travel to off-campus assignments with video or photo gear as assigned;
  • A valid unrestricted Massachusetts driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or licensed in drone videography/photography a plus.
