Position Summary
The Diagnostic Radiologic Technician position performs work under the general supervision of the SHC Medical Supervisor in consultation with the SHC Administrative Director. This position will also receive direction from physicians, nurse practitioners, and the physical therapists. Duties include: performing a variety of radiological exams independently, including evaluating and correcting the exams in a timely and efficient manner; performing clerical functions to support the radiologist; and maintaining inventory and equipment. The individual with have, or will be able to obtain by the time of hire, registration by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists ( ARRT ). With this position, greater hours are expected during the academic year (late August-late May), with a reduction in hours over the summer (late May-late August).

Required Qualifications
· Ability to operate radiology equipment independently.

Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience assisting the medical assistants and nurses with rooming paitents, vital et cetera
Prior experience in Phlebotomy and Waived Lab Testing
Physical Demands
· Frequent lifting of 10 lbs. or less.
· Sitting or standing in the nurses station for extended periods of time.
Working conditions and environment
· No regular weekends and holidays.
· Evenings (4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) may be required 1-2 times per semester
· Regular travel is not required.

· Maintain a safe work environment by minimizing radiation exposure to the patient.
· Maintain 12 CME credits per year to maintain good standing with the ARRT .
· Maintain confidentiality of patients and co-workers, following HIPAA guidelines.
· Maintain State License.
· Complete annual Radiation Safety Training.
· Remain current with state requirements and implement any changes.
· Correspond with radiologist(s).
· Maintain patient database with date and type of x-ray taken.
· Create reports for radiologist to read.
· Update radiology procedures and guidelines as needed.
· Maintain inventory and order supplies when needed.
· Perform preventative maintenance of equipment by erasing and cleaning radiographic cassettes daily.
· Contact service engineer when equipment malfunctions occur.
· Refer problems that need outside attention to the appropriate source.
· Work with vendors as needed.
· Restock and clean exam room.
· Maintain department in order to pass annual Physics inspection.

Medical Assistant Duties
Duties to Support Responsibility
· Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs, obtaining medical histories, preparing patient to be seen by the provider
· Document vital signs and medical history in EMR .
· Assist the providers and nursing staff as needed.
· Perform tests and procedures with clearly defined orders.
· Prepare and dispense medications from our Dispensary and provide patient education on the medication including side effects.
· Coordinate and schedule patient appointments and tests, initiate referrals when needed.
· Observe and practice Universal Precaution Guidelines in regard to patient and Health Care Safety i.e. blood borne pathogens, contaminated body fluids, hazard chemical exposures.
