Statement of Job:

The University of Southern Maine’s Department of Exercise, Health, and Sports Science/Recreation and Leisure Studies invites applications for a part-time faculty position beginning fall 2021 semester. This position is currently a co-instructor position in Reiki: Energy Medicine, working with the current instructor. This course is offered every semester as part of the Holistic and Integrative Health minor.

Primary responsibilities include preparing the syllabus, presenting the class material, grading student assignments, and posting grades prior to the USM deadline. The ideal candidate will possess experience and success in classroom and clinical teaching and hold a current certification as a Reiki Master/Teacher.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. In addition, USM employees have access to the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and the USM Sullivan Gym fitness center (s) with the USM Card. USM also offers Part-time faculty the opportunity for development through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD), and other learning and development opportunities offered throughout the year.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Current Certification as a Reiki Master/Teacher
  • Related professional practitioner work experience in the field.


Preferred:

  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness using a variety of methods.
  • Evidence of commitment to diversity, student success, and active learning.


Other Information:

Anticipated credit hour compensation – dependent upon teaching experience, credentials, and course load.
