Part-time American Sign Language Instructor

The World Language Program in the School of Humanities, Education, Justice & Social Sciences at Lasell College is seeking a part-time instructor to teach American Sign Language. We currently have an opening for 1 class session that starts Sept 9.

ASL111 is the first level of Elementary Sign Language - we anticipate that the faculty member hired will also teach ASL112 in the spring semester. This is a face-to-face course that has been scheduled Monday/Wednesday 9:30 - 10:45 and Friday 10 - 10:50.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a syllabus and course outline for students that clearly communicates course learning outcomes.
  • Provide instruction for all sessions of assigned courses utilizing the college philosophy of connected learning.
  • Maintain office hours each week.
  • Incorporate Canvas (online learning platform) into the course.
  • Keep accurate records of student progress (grades) and complete mid-semester and final grade reports.
  • Collaborate with other language instructors to determine appropriate leveling and pre-requisite work

Qualifications:

Experience teaching American Sign Language, as well as a master's degree or ABD in a related field are required. A willingness to incorporate the college's Connected Learning Philosophy into the course is also important.
