Database & ERP Administrator
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the
Database & ERP Administrator is responsible for the management
and administration of our central administrative system, currently
Jenzabar One. Systems that connect to the ERP, either directly or
indirectly via data transfer, are also supported by this position.
This currently includes financial aid software (PowerFAIDS), meal
cards (CBORD Odyssey), development (Virtuous CRM), Salesforce, and
enrollment management (Jenzabar Recruitment Manager). In addition,
the Administrator facilitates data transfer between the above
systems and those primarily administered or managed by other
personnel or campus units; for example, Schoology, ID Card systems,
student insurance systems, and campus safety and alerting systems.
The Database and ERP Administrator is also responsible for
generating reports or facilitating data access needs, as
appropriate, by various departments and end-users on campus, for
example, Finance or Institutional Research personnel. The
Administrator works closely with both technical and non technical
personnel and given the broad access to institutional and student
data, must be able to maintain the full trust of senior
leadership.
Principal Duties and
Responsibilities
• Support and lead business process improvement
through the higher-level use of Jenzabar
• Work collaboratively with campus departments to
plan goals and priorities for Jenzabar data
• Maintain, configure, optimize, and troubleshoot all
aspects of the Jenzabar One application, its related databases, and
other supporting software solutions
• Work collaboratively with all campus departments to
establish and/or maintain seamless data integrations with Jenzabar.
Dependent databases and systems include PowerFAIDS, OCLC, CBORD
Odyssey, Schoology/MOLE, eCampus, OnGuard, CASHNet, Ascension,
AlertMedia, Virtuous CRM, and JRM.
• Review patches, features, and upgrades related to
all College databases and apply them as needed
• Manage database user accounts (setup, policy,
security, and access)
• Review, recommend, develop, and modify standards,
policies, procedures, and technical documentation
• Proactively recommend database process improvements
and efficiencies, train users as appropriate
• Keep documentation (including necessary passwords)
up to date, secure, and accessible in the designated OIT
repository(s)
• Perform regular database analyses and cleaning to
ensure data health, integrity, stability, and system
availability
• Perform capacity planning, configuration,
performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, as well as
backup and data recovery of systems and databases
• Responsible for ensuring systems are maintained
with the latest updates/patches while ensuring system stability and
minimizing downtime impacts on users
• Explore solutions and identify a protocol to
support the data warehousing and ETL needs of the campus
• Serves as principal database expert for the campus,
providing advice for customer needs
• Serves as the primary technical liaison to Jenzabar
and other relevant database vendors
• Maintain high-level of customer service in dealing
with and responding to database-related end-user requests
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; MS
preferred
• 5+ years of direct, on-the-job experience with
Microsoft SQL database administration, configuration, and
performance analysis or equivalent combination of experience and
training; preferably in a higher education environment
• Demonstrated experience with Jenzabar
• Solid knowledge of and experience with writing SQL
queries and scripts.
• Extensive experience with database and cloud
hosting security protocols
• Experience defining and documenting functional and
technical requirements/specifications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
in both technical and non-technical subjects
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and
problem-solving skills
• Ability to develop a vision for future database
needs and to develop appropriate plans to meet these needs
• Willingness to troubleshoot, administer, and/or
integrate new systems as they are adopted by Menlo College
• Ability to maintain knowledge of new and current
technology and trends
• Working knowledge of Salesforce
• Able to work occasional evenings and weekends
