The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We're responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, “non-exempt”, benefited position through June 30, 2022 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

Salary: $38,316.00 annually

Department Summary:

The WorkAbility IV (WA-IV) program provides support through enhanced career preparation services to California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) students with disabilities that are clients of the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) that assists them in overcoming barriers, obtaining gainful employment within their academic major and job retention.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week. Schedule to be arranged, but typically, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm though some nights, weekend work may be required.

Typical Activities

Under the supervision of the WorkAbility IV (WA-IV) Lead Program Coordinator, the Career Transition & Resource Coordinator (CTRC) is responsible for planning. Implementing, and carrying out employment preparation services for CSUSB students with disabilities who are clients of the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR). The CTRC serves as a direct source of CSUSB information to include the dissemination of information on WA-IV's social media platforms related to employment preparation. The incumbent will orient student/DOR clients to WA-IV program services, policies, and procedures. The CRTC will be responsible for researching local labor market needs that are consistent with students/DOR clients' Individual Plans for Employment (IPE). The incumbent will explore career options; facilitate on and off-campus referrals; identify needs for support and reasonable workplace accommodations and assistive technologies; assist students/DOR clients in the selection of courses to expand job opportunities and with timing and coordination of internship opportunities and develop training workshops and Job Club activities. The incumbent provides student/DOR client updates and progress reports for DOR counselors. The CTRC attends on and off campus WA-IV related meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in business, marketing or social science major
  • Experience: Applicant must possess an undergraduate degree from a four-year college or university, preferably with a business, marketing or social science major. A master's degree is preferred. Applicants must have two to five years' experience in job placement or career development (including experience organizing job fairs).

  • Knowledge and Abilities
  • Applicants should have knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act, state and federal employment laws and legal interviewing practices, general and specific employment issues relative to individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the federal, state and local labor market trends and knowledge of the DOR or similar agencies that assist individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Applicant must be an energetic self-starter, who has proven job development and organizational expertise; able to establish and maintain strong ties to the local business community; communicate effectively in both oral and written formats; work effectively with a diverse population; able to serve as an advocate for employment of individuals with disabilities; and work independently in the field, while working under deadlines.
  • Applicants must have demonstrated computer skills including the ability to utilize the internet for job searches and employment trends.
  • Applicant must have the ability to travel and provide own transportation. In addition, applicant must possess a valid CDL and valid car registration including adequate vehicle insurance required by UEC policy.
