Description
The Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry, in conjunction with Austin State Hospital, is seeking a Neuropsychologist to conduct diagnostic neuropsychological evaluations, provide direct patient treatment and guide interdisciplinary cognitive rehabilitation. This clinical position is funded at a .75 FTE (full-time equivalent). The Neuropsychologist will provide 0.5 FTE clinical services at Austin State Hospital and 0.25 clinical services within the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. This position will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, based on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provision of neuropsychological assessment and direct patient care for an adult inpatient psychiatric hospital population at Austin State Hospital
- Consultation with Austin State Hospital neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists and other interdisciplinary treatment team members
- Provision of neuropsychological evaluations with the Department of Psychiatry's Comprehensive Diagnostic and Treatment Evaluation Program
- Additional neuropsychological services and consultation at
Ascension Seton medical facilities affiliated with The University
of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School, based on experience and
interest
Required qualifications:
- A doctoral degree from an APA or CPA accredited program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related field
- Completion of an APA or CPA accredited internship in psychology
- Completion of a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology or rehabilitation psychology
- Current licensure from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) as a fully licensed psychologist
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Clinical Neuropsychology or Rehabilitation Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP)
- Experience working in an inpatient psychiatric setting or state hospital
- Eligible for appointment as an assistant professor or higher in the Department of Psychiatry
- Must be an innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications:
- Three (3) years full-time postdoctoral experience as a clinical neuropsychologist or rehabilitation psychologist
- Experience working with interdisciplinary treatment teams
- Forensic evaluation experience
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to provide culturally competent, evidence-based clinical services
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
