TheDepartment of Medicine Division of Hematology seeks a Research Program Assistant who will work underthedirectsupervision of theClinical Research Program Manager and will be responsible for monitoringandcollectingresearchdata forcomplementassociateddiseasesin theDivisionofHematology. TheResearchProgramAssistantisresponsible forthe organization,entry,maintenanceandaccuracy ofclinicalresearchdata forcomplexanddetailedclinicaltrials.The Assistant willhelpwithconsenting,collectingresearchsamplesanddeliveringthemto thelab,andhelping topreparemonthly datareportsto thePIandcollaboratinginvestigators. They maycollaboratein developmentandwritingofprotocolsandconsentforms, indevelopmentandpreparationof regulatorydocumentsasappropriateandclarifyingconcernsandquestionsaboutnewprotocolswithPIandSponsor.Thisisanentry levelposition inmanagingresearchtrialsandregistry databaseswithintheresearchprogram.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

    Supportsrecruitment,screeningandenrolling ofeligiblepatients intolaboratoryprotocols. Explain theprotocolindetailandconductinformedconsentprocedureswithpotentialresearchparticipants. Maintaingoodworking knowledge ofallassignedprotocolsandreportingrequirements.Work oncomplexclinicalandresearchstudieswhichrequireahighlevelofknowledge,coordination,anddata abstraction. Maintainregulatorybinders/spreadsheetsforassignedprotocols.Prepareand submitannualrenewalrequests, amendmentsandadverse eventreportswithclinicalinputaccordingtoIRBandSponsorrequirements.Adheretoallprotocolrequirementstoensurethe validity of theclinicalresearchdata. Assisttheprincipalinvestigator andgrant/programmanagerin defininginformationandplansrequiredtoaccomplishgoalsofstudies.Designandcreate protocolspecificcasereportformsasneeded. Verifypatienteligibilityfor studiesbycomparingpatienthistoryandclinicallaboratory resultswithprotocolrequirements. Collect,enter andcompile clinicaldatafroma variety ofsources.Ensure accuracyandtimelinessofdatasothatinformationmaybeusedbythephysiciansintreatmentplanningfor individualpatients,andbythePrincipalInvestigatoringrantwritings,presentationsandpublication. Compile materialswhichaidphysicians/other staffincomplyingwithprotocolrequirements. Participateinallmandatorymeetingsto develop increasingknowledgeofassignedresearchandclinicaltrials. Developandmaintainaprotocoldatabaseorspreadsheetfortracking patientactivity,datacollection,andfinancialmanagement. Preparefor andparticipate inmonitoringandaudits ofstudies.WriteresponsestoauditreportswithinputfromthePrincipalInvestigator. Completeminimumrequirementforcontinuingeducationalunits.IsknowledgeableofandcomplieswithGoodClinicalPractices,ICH GuidelinesandDepartmentalResearchOfficepolicies.May instruct introductorylevelresearchpersonnelintheseguidelinesandpolicies. Prepare and submit invoices to sponsors in a timely manner. Performallother dutiesasassigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Some Related Experience
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’sdegree or equivalent preferred
  • Experiencewithworkingandinteractingwithpatientsofatleast oneyear.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Proficiencyin the useofcommonsoftwareapplications,databases,spreadsheets,andwordprocessingrequired. Excellentorganizational skills are required. Excellentattentiontodetailskillsrequired. Musthaveability tomanagemultipleandcompetingpriorities. Musthave excellenttimemanagementskills. Musthave excellentoralandwrittencommunicationskills. Must beabletoworkindependently. Thesuccessfulapplicantwilldemonstrate anability toworkwellwithother professionalswithminimalsupervision andbecomfortablebeing part of a diverseprofessionalteam.
