Visiting Instructor, English

The Department of English of Jacksonville State University’s College of Arts and Humanities is seeking to hire a scholar for a Visiting Instructor, English.

The Department of English seeks to hire a non-tenure track Visiting Instructor of English for the 2021-2022 academic year.  The Visiting Instructor will teach a 5/5 load of composition courses, writing studios, and speech, as well as other courses needed by the department, and will conduct weekly office hours.  There are no service or research requirements.  Applicants with experience teaching composition, developmental writing, and speech may be given priority.

Applicants must have a minimum of a master’s degree and at least 18 hours completed in graduate-level English courses.  Applicants with master’s or doctoral degrees in English will be given priority.  The position start date is August 12, 2021, on which a required all-day professional development workshop will be held.

Applicants must submit a CV, cover letter, three references, and official transcripts.

The department seeks to fill this position quickly to ensure the Visiting Instructor is ready for fall classes; therefore, applicants must submit all materials by July 31, 2021.  The salary is $42,000.00, with benefits, for this one-year contract.
