Job Description

The School of Visual Arts seeks applications for a one-year, non-renewable instructor in the Graphic Design Program with the capability of teaching a 3/3 course load of core Graphic Design courses (including Typography); electives (Motion Graphics, as well as others such as Interactive Design or Illustration) as well as non-major Graphic Design courses.

Required Qualifications

Terminal professional degree (M.F.A. or equivalent).
Proven ability to teach Graphic Design courses and/or significant professional experience.
A record of excellence in one or more of the following areas: web design; application development; motion graphics; graphic or visual design; and interactive media.
Demonstrated success in working with and promoting diversity and inclusion within an academic and/or professional environment.
A broad understanding of contemporary and traditional art and design practice and theory relating to Graphic Design.

Duties and Responsibilities:

3/3 teaching load of Graphic Design courses for majors and non-majors:

Fall 2021 courses: Typography 2, Motion Graphics, and Design for Non-Majors

Spring 2021 courses: Design for Non-Majors and two undergraduate design courses

The School of Visual Arts is comprised of 24 full-time faculty members with approximately 250 undergraduate students, 25 master’s students, and one doctoral student. The programs within the school include Art History, Studio Art, Creative Technologies, and Graphic Design.
