Job Summary/Basic Function



MaryvilleWORKS, a division of Maryville University focusing on corporate education through the upskilling and reskilling of new and existing talent, is seeking an experienced learning designer to join their team. The MaryvilleWORKS team is committed to providing innovative, market-relevant workforce development solutions designed to meet business needs and complement business strategy. The MaryvilleWORKS team partners with well-established companies, non-profits, and small businesses to provide custom learning solutions.

The successful candidate will join an established team of learning designers responsible for the design, development, and deployment of self-paced learning opportunities and will be committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout all stages of the design and development process.

The learning designer will partner with subject matter experts, the creative development team, and the industry or University personnel to:
• Rapidly design and develop interactive, competency or performance-based learning and professional development, including self-paced learning
• Ensure learning experiences that fully meet the needs learners and/or clients, while adhering to the standards of Maryville University and the MaryvilleWORKS team
• Enhance existing materials through content alignment, textbook updates, and styling updates
• Provide technical and pedagogical assistance throughout the design, development and implementation of online courses
• Ensure course materials are accessible to all learners by completing accessibility updates
• Support the departmental salesforce queue
• Participate in the full course life cycle

Note: Learning Design positions can be primarily or fully remote positions, with limited or no on-campus presence.



Minimum Qualifications



• Proven instructional design and development experience within the area of professional
development, workforce education, and online training
• Proven effective experience working and consulting with subject matter experts and all levels
of internal and external partners
• Strong understanding of the principles of UI and UX as it relates to the development of
learning experiences.
• Knowledge of current techniques, tools, and procedures used in the design, development,
and evaluation of technology-enhanced and online courses and programs
• Proven ability to lead and develop projects throughout the full project life cycle (concept-
storyboard-final product)
• Ability to lead sessions with faculty, SMEs, and/or stakeholders to analyze needs and map
business requirements to learning programs; comfortable creating design documents that
will achieve the defined program needs
• Demonstrated experience and advanced knowledge of graphic design elements and tools
appropriate for online instruction
• Demonstrated advanced experience developing e-learning solutions using Canvas and
common authoring tools (for example, Articulate, Captivate, Photoshop, Presenter)
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with deadlines
• Adheres to timelines and project management processes that support development
• Prior experience working with audio/video producers, e-learning developers, and third-party
vendors
• Experience working with inclusive and diverse content and populations



Preferred Qualifications



• Needs assessment, gap analysis, content alignment (matching instructional strategies to
expected learning outcomes), content creation and curation, formative and summative
feedback
• Ability to lead sessions with SMEs and stakeholders to analyze needs and map business
requirements to learning programs
• Demonstrated experience with Competency-Based Learning, adaptive learning, task
analysis, self-contained portable learning objects/units
• Experience with web conferencing tools (for example, Zoom, Skype for Business, WebEx)
