Job Summary
Adjunct faculty members are expected to be effective teachers and excel in course instruction.Listed below are the minimum expectations of all faculty who teach at JCCC:
Effective teaching requires content expertise. Faculty must demonstrate deep subject knowledge, including key concepts, current and relevant research, methodologies, tools and techniques, and meaningful applications. Effective teaching reflects sound instructional methods drawn from the scholarship of teaching and learning, and cultivates a supportive learning environment that allows students to think critically and experiment with material.
Effective teaching communicates successfully. Effective teaching clearly articulates high, achievable, and purposeful expectations. Effective teaching adeptly guides meaningful course activities, allowing students to advance their knowledge or skill.
In addition to teaching, adjunct faculty members are expected to be an active member of the college community.
Required Qualifications
MBA or Masters degree in related field (Management, Human Resources, Management Sciences, etc.)
Minimum of three years relevant work experience
Minimum of two years teaching experience, delivering courses online and face-to-face
Ability to teach a variety of business courses as demonstrated by professional experience or prior teaching experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
A sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, and abilities backgrounds of community college students
Experience teaching in face-to-face, online, and/or blended learning environments
Experience with CANVAS or similar learning management systems
