Job Summary
This position is located in Pell City, AL in the St. Clair County Extension Office.This is a one year limited term position. Continued employment is based on the continuation of extramural funding and is subject to renewal on an annual basis.
The Coordinator, Outreach Programs will be responsible for implementing and coordinating the goals and objectives of the veterans outreach program in St. Clair County. This position will develop awareness materials, build collaboration and deliver support services through educational programs/events and resources, identify and train veteran mentors, expand networks and serve as a liaison for veterans and/or military families. The goal of the program is to increase education, wellness and employment of veterans and military families and assist with efforts to reintegrate them into the community.
Essential Functions
Provide resources for those who have served and their families for aid to wellness, education, and employment; identifying and recruiting veterans eligible for programs available; show sensitivity to the variety of veterans styles and strategies; able to communicate effectively with them about healthy relationships; able to work collaboratively and professionally with families and co-workers; developing and implementing strategies and tactics for marketing these programs; coordinating with project implementation partners, ACES agents, military, and other collaborating agencies to market, publicize and conduct programs. The individual will participate in initial and on-the-job training; keep accurate records of time, travel and supplies; follow guidelines and policies of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System ( ACES ); maintain appropriate communication with the County Extension Coordinator; and publicize programs through local media (may include radio, newspaper and television).

Minimum Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of national, state, and local community support programs within all agencies for veterans, service members and their families in order to meet the goals of the county.
2. Must have effective communication and human relations skills.
3. Sincere interest in working with volunteers and professional staff in an educational setting and the ability to recruit, train and motivate volunteers while returning positive self-esteem
4. Able to follow instructions related to work with minimum supervision from professional staff, a willingness to become familiar with and work within the philosophy and guidelines of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
Minimum Technology Skills
A working knowledge in operating a personal computer (experience with software programs including Microsoft Word and Power Point).

1. Military experience as enlisted, officer, chaplain or chaplain’s assistant is highly desirable.
