Salary and Terms          Athletic Fixed-Term, full time position. Salary is based on experience.

Position Description     

The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach will be involved in all aspects of coaching responsibilities including recruiting, practice, organization, scheduling, trip organization, fundraising, alumni relations and summer camps.  This position will have responsibilities as the Director of the SMSU Fitness Center. Potential other position responsibilities to be assigned could include intramural director, game management, marketing, advertising and promotions, special events, and office of admission recruiting. The position may be assigned teaching responsibilities based on the candidate’s degree, prior teaching experience and area of expertise.


Minimum Qualifications                      

  • Master’s degree
  • Collegiate basketball coaching experience
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division ll rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated commitment or proven strategies for fostering a diverse and inclusive environment; demonstrated ability or proven strategies to teach and work with persons from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective human relation skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with computers and their applications, with preference given to those with experience using Microsoft office and Synergy.
  • Fitness center and/or weight room supervision and programming experience is preferred.
