The primary responsibility of this temporary position is to provide peer mentoring and staff support for TRIO Student Support Service students at the Bay College Escanaba campus during the 2021-2022 school year.

TRIO Student Support Services is a federally funded program that works with first-generation, income-eligible, and disabled students at Bay College. Through SSS staff guidance, peer mentors provide academic and non-academic support, as well as professional development and social engagement opportunities for the TRIO cohort Minimum Qualifications
* Must be a Bay College Student at time of employment
* Must plan to attend Bay College for 2 academic years
* Leadership and/ or community service experience
* Good interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written).
* Ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
* Demonstrated level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
* Demonstrated appropriate and professional behavior.
* Ability to work virtually from home if needed. Preferred Qualifications
* Students enrolled full-time will be given preference Months Per Year Work Hours 4 - 20 regularly scheduled hours per week M – F during the Fall 2021 and Winter 2022 semesters based on need and availability. Supervision Exercised

Attend training prior to the start of the semester and regular staff meetings.

Provide services to TRIO students utilizing the Student Success Center and Student Food Pantry during scheduled hours.

Develop and implement TRIO Peer Mentor-led social events and workshops. Job Duty
Connect with TRIO students via outreach initiatives. Job Duty
Mentor and advise TRIO students on ancillary topics such as referring them to other needed support services available within the college.

Attend staff-led TRIO workshops, luncheons, events, and trips. Job Duty
Promote TRIO services and events through a variety of methods. Job Duty
Create a comfortable and supportive environment for TRIO students in both the Student Success Center and Student Food Pantry.

Teach both academic and non-academic skills to TRIO students in a variety of settings.

Assist TRIO staff in stocking and maintaining the Student Food Pantry

Assist TRIO staff with social media posts and presence. Job Duty
