The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is accepting applications for a full-time Medical Health Physics Program Director (open tenure) in the Department of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences, School of Health Professions (SHP). The program director is a faculty member who is appointed by the Department Chair to provide leadership, ensure quality, and supervise administration of an academic program within the Department of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences. As a faculty member, a program director is responsible for accepting assignments that contribute to the department’s overall mission. The major responsibilities of a program director may include teaching, research, scholarly activity, service, and administration. A program director is expected to perform these activities in a manner that demonstrates respect of others, commitment to excellence, and high ethical standards. Through negotiation with the appropriate department chair and in compliance with departmental workload policies, a program director will assume specific job-related responsibilities. While a program director’s potential scope of responsibility is large, it is expected that each will have a unique set of responsibilities that balance individual needs with those of the program and the department.

 

The candidate must hold a PhD in Health Physics and have at least one-year teaching experience.
