The Department of Anthropology seeks applicants for a faculty position in Social or Cultural Anthropology to begin Fall 2022. Rank is open, depending on experience. The candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program that complements the current expertise of our faculty (see All areas of geographical and theoretical specialization will be considered. Faculty in our department are expected to involve students in their research program. We are particularly interested in candidates who are capable of teaching an ethnographic field school and are committed to mentoring student research. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two courses each semester and one course during the Spring/Summer terms. Assigned courses will include introductory courses, ethnographic methods and ethnographic writing courses, as well as courses within the candidate’s geographical and theoretical areas of expertise. The candidate must be willing to serve in a variety of department, college, university, and external (discipline specific) committees and roles. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a closely related discipline by the beginning of the appointment. Prospective candidates are invited to include a brief diversity statement with their application.
