Position Summary:
The Audio/Video Support Technician supports the Music Department in the College of Arts & Sciences at Willamette University. By lending expertise to ensure that events and facilities are properly organized and run smoothly, the AV Support Technician enhances the student learning experience and facilitates a positive audience experience.
The successful candidate will join a department committed to designing, fostering, and facilitating learning environments that are welcoming to a diversity of communities, with an emphasis on communities historically excluded from access to music programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Manages sound reinforcement, recording, and video streaming for
music events;
- Maintains studio/lab spaces in consultation with the studio
director;
- Purchases equipment and supplies in consultation with the
department chair;
- Supervises student workers, including developing work
schedules, onboarding, and providing ongoing mentoring.
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field or
equivalent professional experience.
- Experience managing live sound reinforcement, video and audio
streaming technology, and lighting for music
performances.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain music facilities and
equipment, such as recording studios, mixing consoles and
microphones, and performance spaces.
- Fluency in digital audio recording software to record, edit,
and mix music. Fluency in DAW software including LogicPro and
ProTools.
- Experience working in a collaborative team setting which
involves scheduling, coordinating, and managing the work of team
members.
- Must have proven communications skills adequate to assist
students in understanding the work they are to perform, to work
successfully with guest artists, and have a demonstrated ability to
lead others.
- A demonstrated commitment to supporting equity, diversity, and

Typical Work Schedule
Predominantly Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours required. This is a 10-month position following the academic calendar, August - May.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Intermittent physical effort involving lifting up to 25 pounds is required. Work is typically performed indoors, with the possibility of occasional outdoor work.
Salary Range: Up to $25/hour depending on experience
