    Department Summary
    The Graduate School serves as the institutional home for all graduate students and is the administrative office with ultimate responsibility for policy and procedures relevant to graduate education and graduate students. The Graduate School provides cross-disciplinary experiences, funding, and professional development; advocates for graduate students; and partners with programs for student success. Its programs and services affect nearly 4,000 graduate students and 135 graduate degree programs. The Graduate School's core purpose is to promote graduate education by fostering excellence, innovation, and inclusiveness across all graduate programs.

    Position Summary
    At the direction of the Graduate School's leadership team, the Operations Analyst oversees all data operational activities, including managing implementation, processes, trainings, and procedures of the Graduate School's Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) and graduate student and program analytics. This position applies data analytic and business process expertise to support functionality of and configure CRM-related solutions, reporting, and analysis of CRM data.

    The Operations Analyst maintains best practices and data standards to continually improve processes and outcomes. They collaborate with Graduate School staff, graduate programs/colleges, UO Information Services, and other university stakeholders to develop and refine processes and CRM functionalities. This position reports to the Graduate School's Director of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment.

    The Operations Analyst must possess/develop an understanding of processes, needs, and technical systems that support the Graduate School, communicating and collaborating effectively across multiple organizations and departments. This position will assess business needs and translate them into relevant solutions, document system, and technical requirements, as well as configure and maintain Graduate School data systems and triage with UO Information Services on enterprise data integrations. The Operations Analyst works alongside colleagues on complementary projects that require knowledge specific to this position, while incorporating skill sharing and collective problem solving.

    Minimum Requirements
    This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.

    Professional Competencies
  • Ability to interface/integrate campus defined operating system(s) with software and other systems
  • Ability to evaluate existing and proposed systems and recommend upgrades and/or modifications
  • Knowledge of database design, structure development, features, operations, programming, and data access principles
  • Knowledge of system management and security/control procedures
  • High-level organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, and time-sensitive environment
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills; ability to recognize situations that warrant initiative and moves forward without hesitation; resolving issues, problems, or situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex issues and communicate clearly and interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff from a broad range of programs and disciplines

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated data analytics experience, including leveraging data from multiple data sources, developing reports, data visualizations/modeling, data stewardship/integrity
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining data transformations using SQL
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal) with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-experts
  • Proven ability to participate as a member of a diverse team in a collaborative environment
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in computer science, engineering mathematics, telecommunications or a related technical field, OR equivalent technical training and/or experience
