Division of Adolescent Medicine
The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics seeks a Clinician Investigator to join the faculty in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor. The position will involve providing direct patient care during four half-day sessions in the Johns Hopkins Chronic Fatigue Clinic each week. For the first three years, the remaining 60% of time will be protected for academic work (research, administrative, and educational activities). Academic support includes access to a wide range of career development programs and services, including 20 hours of epidemiological and biostatistics research consultation services each year. The candidate must be BC/BE in Pediatrics or Medicine-Pediatrics, and interested in working with adolescents and young adults with chronic health impairments that include myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), orthostatic intolerance, and joint hypermobility spectrum disorders, including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. The successful candidate will work with a well-established clinician investigator in the care of this under-served population of patients. Required to have M.D. and specialty training in Pediatrics or Medicine/Pediatrics. Fellowship training in Adolescent Medicine, clinical research training, and prior experience working with this patient population are preferred.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.
The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
