Job Summary

The Coordinator for Student Involvement serves as one of 3 staff members reporting to the Assistant Director of Engagement in the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) . The position specifically coordinates weekly programming, including I Love Mondays, DIY Nights, Ralphie's Cooking Basics, as well as supports late-night programming efforts, including but not limited to Buffalo Nites event series, Battle of the Bands, and Poetry Slam. The Coordinator plays a key role in the management of Recognized Student Organizations by serving as a liaison to an assigned caseload of student organizations. The position will also lead all aspects of student organization appreciation events, including annual awards and receptions. The Coordinator serves as the advisor to Senior Class Council. This position will represent the Assistant Director for Engagement and CSI on various university committees and board meetings. The coordinator will also assist the Assistant Director with financial management. Additionally, this position supervises two to three student staff members. This position interacts with all levels of staff and is expected to regularly work evening and late-night hours, as well as work occasional weekend hours.

Who We Are

The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is a service department of the University of Colorado Boulder Student Government (CUSG) within the Division of Student Affairs. We cultivate an environment for building vibrant, engaging and safe communities through programming, leadership development, cultural awareness and learning opportunities.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Oversee weekly and late-night activities and events, including but not limited to I Love Mondays, Buffalo Nites, Ralphie's Cooking Basics, and DIY Nights.
  • Act as a staff liaison to the University for Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs). Serve as a resource to student organizations by applying student development theory to step-by-step event planning, risk management, and budgetary advising. Assist in RSO training efforts.
  • Coordinate student organization appreciation events, including the annual Student Leadership Awards and the Student Leader Reception.
  • Maintain accurate budget expenditure records and plans for future contingency funds.
  • Serve as advisor to Senior Class Council, assisting the organization in a variety of areas including event planning, scholarship management, and supporting the University-wide Commencement Committee. Oversee moves between council/board leadership through orientation and training.
  • Perform and be responsible for administrative and managerial responsibilities for 2 - 3 student staff members.
  • Other related duties as assigned including staffing additional events, committee appointments, assisting CSI in planning informational programming and presentations, etc.

What We Require

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

What You Will Need

  • Student Learning and Development- addresses the concepts and principles of student development and learning theory. This includes applying theory to improve and inform student affairs and instructing practice.
  • Social Justice and Inclusion- is a process and a goal that includes the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to build learning environments that cultivate equitable participation of all groups while seeking to address and acknowledge issues of oppression, privilege, and power.
  • Organizational and Human Resources- includes knowledge, skills, and dispositions used in the management of institutional human capital, financial, and physical resources.
  • Assessment, Evaluation and Research (AER)- focuses on the ability to craft, conduct, critique, and use various AER methodologies and the results acquired from them, to utilize AER processes and their results to inform practice, and to craft the political and ethical climate surrounding AER processes and uses in higher education.
  • Advising and Supporting-addresses the knowledge, skills, and dispositions related to providing advising and support to individuals and groups through direction, feedback, critique, referral, and guidance.


What We Would Like You To Have

  • 1 - 2 years of event planning experience in a higher education setting, which could include weekly events, evening/late-night programs, and/or large-scale events.
  • 1 - 2 years experience advising student organizations and student boards.
  • Experience in program assessment and utilizing data to make improvements.
  • Master's degree in the social sciences, higher education, or college student personnel.
  • Student staff supervisory experience.
