The Project Director, Marketing will serve as team leader for marketing projects, owning and reinforcing the production schedule and overseeing the omni-channel strategic project management cycle from inception to completion. The project director will as act as lead for strategic marketing projects related to Advancement and External Affairs within the strategy department. The individual will possess the outstanding ability to seamlessly conceptualize, manage and lead multiple strategic projects (working with the Advancement and External Affairs teams) and execute marketing campaigns with achievable, measurable and relevant goals. This individual will possess both advanced technical and soft skills relevant to professional project management and provide skilled and well-informed counsel, guidance and consultation on client marketing needs. The Project Director will serve as a strategic advisor to the marketing leadership team. This individual will collaborate with campus partners and work closely with the executive director of marketing strategy and Director of marketing strategy to ensure client goals and KPIs are being met. This person must be incredibly autonomous, work independently with little to no direction, highly motivated and able to manage multiple high profile projects simultaneously. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising or related field or equivalent experience and seven (7) plus years of project management/producer experience.
  • Supervisor experience preferred.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Excellent judgement, strong ability to work independently and autonomously and high degree of comfort managing up to University leaders.
  • Evidence of strong project management skills, strong attention to detail and customer service focus.
  • Exceptional ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing demands with professional attitude.
  • Demonstrated experience stewarding and elevating an institutional position and brand.
  • Fluent use of standard office communication stools like MS Word, Excel and Outlook required. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite tools, iOS and Android a plus.
  • Highly responsive to communications with stakeholders, and ability to translate that communication into the required action and response.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, understand and translate information to various marketing platforms and audiences.
  • Work with executive director of marketing strategy and leadership team, along with the director of marketing to develop a comprehensive marketing plan that includes business partner goals, KPIs, target audiences, campaigns and budgets.
  • Oversee management of all marketing projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Exceed client expectations with streamlined best-in-class deliverables with related analytics.
  • Oversee strategists’ output and communicate regularly with Chief Marketing Officer, marketing leaders and partners to provide project status, project plans and to generate exceptional project deliverables.
  • Delegate project tasks to teammates as appropriate. Act as final quality check for team deliverables before handing to partners. Provide high-quality individual project leadership.
  • Mobilizes teams/resources that best utilize knowledge, skills and abilities to advance and elevate the University brand across a full suite of platforms including web, digital (photography/video) and social media, print and other methods.
  • Create and execute comprehensive marketing programs that deliver measurable results.
  • Direct the production life cycle of print and digital projects from design development to finished product on-time delivery, including working directly with clients and external vendors on project specifications and production.
  • Collaborate with Advancement and External Affairs teams to create a consistent and aligned approach to promoting the University’s academic programs, services and events.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices in omni-channel marketing as well as changes in modern best practices and new opportunities to provide partner delight.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with service providers (i.e. printers, outside designers, product providers).
  • Ensure employees have access to the equipment, resources and information needed to do their work effectively and efficiently.
  • Serve as a trusted leader and advisor to senior leadership and possess the ability to listen, communicate, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Maintain relevant and current knowledge of the higher education marketing industry.
