The Office of Career Services & Experiential Learning at the School of Information Studies seeks candidates for the position of Associate Director of Employer Engagement & Experiential Learning to grow and expand the current student, employer, and alumni engagement efforts for iSchool students. Reporting to the Executive Director of Career Services & Experiential Learning, the Associate Director will collaborate with the Advancement and Alumni Relations teams to strategically cultivate and strengthen communication with and between employers, students, and alumni for internship and full-time career opportunities. They will also direct students and alumni for the purpose of lifelong experiential learning opportunities with the iSchool. In addition, this person will be responsible for managing the internship program at the iSchool; including gathering and then disseminating all job and internship opportunities for our student body. They will manage internships for academic credit by collaborating with faculty, internship site supervisors, and students. Additional responsibilities include implementing related employer and student experiential learning programs while promoting internships as an integral, valued element of the iSchool’s learning experience. This role is a highly visible role with a variety of stakeholders: employers, current/prospective students, faculty, and alumni.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience working with employer, internship, and/or alumni engagement is required.
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline strongly preferred.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Advanced problem solving skills, management oversight and direction, public speaking, discernment/judgment, and organizational understanding.
  • Experience with Handshake user platform is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of iSchool Career Services’ Internship Program:
  • Manage and oversee internship communications with students, faculty supervisors, and initial site supervisor communications.
  • Create, maintain, and analyze internship spreadsheets, seeking trends, changes, and data compilation for internships.
  • Manage the advisement of all international students on the rules, regulations, and process for CPT and OPT application letters. Be the iSchool signature on these letters. Collaborate and consult with The Center for International Services on any issues or questions.
  • Manage Remitted Tuition process for all non-profit and not-for-profit internship sites.
  • Collect and manage all site evaluation information for internship assessment purposes.
  • Advise and assist all iSchool students (main campus, 2U, distance learning) on internship site searches and procedures.
Manage all Career Services and Employer Relations Events:
  • Manage the iSchool Career Fairs for fall and spring semesters; collaborate with other schools/offices on campus for career fair week logistics and employer booth mapping.
  • Develop relationships with prospective employers; seek out new relationships.
  • Create and build all schedules for student and employer engagement in Handshake (resume triage, mock interviews, employer office hours, employer interviews, etc.).
  • Develop a 5-star employer concierge service for visits to the iSchool.
  • Manage all employer visit requests (class visits; coordinate with faculty members; info sessions, meeting w/student groups, event flyers, catering, etc.).
  • Analyze career services and employer relations trends/processes and recommend new and improved ones that will better benefit students and employers.
Manage Information Warehouse on Career Services & Employer Relations Activities and Opportunities:
  • Provide data reports to senior management on job placements and internships. Analyze data for trends, successes and failures in program and process. Implement yearly placement survey by Career Services.
  • Develop and maintain new processes to effectively maintain employer relationships and internship opportunities.
  • Advise all students on services and resources available through the Office of Career Services & Experiential Learning.
  • Collaborate with faculty supervisors in creating Blackboard and 2U courses for required forms and assignments. Compare course registration and student rosters in internship courses then adjust as necessary.
  • Advise Executive Director of Career Services & Experiential Learning on budget and expenditure issues related to career programs.
Student-Alumni Engagement for Experiential Learning:
  • Develop a strategic plan that identifies major goals and objectives for connecting alumni with current iSchool students for career and internship needs.
  • Set priorities and discuss strategies to communicate with students, the public and alumni.
  • Track communications and relations with students and alumni and friends of the School.
  • Develop alumni networks to support recruitment and placement efforts; Assist in the donor recognition programs.
  • Work with Advancement and Alumni Relations team to plan and execute alumni events related to internship, career, and employer needs.
