Lab Manager, Communicative Disorders and Sciences

Job Details

Position Summary

The Cognition, Speech Perception, and Auditory Neuroscience Lab in the Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences at the University at Buffalo is seeking an organized, talented individual capable of managing a brand new lab. This individual will work closely with the PI, Dr. Christopher Heffner, to organize a laboratory that will investigate speech perception across a variety of approaches and populations, including use of behavioral and neuroimaging methods in both healthy older and younger populations and populations with speech and language disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and aphasia.

It is anticipated that the lab manager will be able to be involved in many aspects of the research process. The primary responsibility of the lab manager will be to coordinate the activities of the lab, including supervising undergraduate and graduate research assistants who work in the lab, organization of tasks, Institutional Review Board ( IRB ) protocols, and records in the lab. The manager should be an excellent manager of people. However, they may also be involved in aspects of the research production itself, including study design and execution. The lab manager will be managing a new lab still in development. As such, the individual should be a creative problem-solver with a knack for developing structure where none exists.
