The IT Academic Technology Department supports academic platforms and technology which is critical for faculty, staff, and students. Our team ensures that faculty have the tools, resources and knowledge to effectively teach in online and hybrid environments. TheDesigner – Instruction and Technologyposition works closely with instructors who teach in all delivery formats (face-to-face, hybrid and fully online) to provide information and guidance in the use of effective digital learning strategies, online best practices, and a broad range of technological tools to support learners in reaching student learning outcomes. This position requires working some evenings and weekends to accommodate the scheduling needs of our active academic community.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic technology and pedagogical support to the broad St. Kate’s Community.
  • Respond to requests and issues sent to Academic Technology via the University’s ticket system and/or via email.
  • Apply a deep, broad knowledge of available academic technology tools to effective instructional use, including learning management systems, online tools, software, hardware, and devices used for teaching and learning.
  • Consult with faculty, staff, or subject matter experts to design and develop a variety of effective instructional materials for use with traditional instructor-led, hybrid, and fully online programs and courses.
  • Develop measurable criteria that can be used to judge the learner’s performance.
  • Plan, develop, and conduct training sessions for faculty, academic programs, University staff, and students in the use of academic technology.
  • Manage the integration of the system within the University’s course management system(s) and troubleshoot issues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of experience in educational technology or instructional design.
  • Experience working with instructional design concepts and principles, adult learning theory, needs assessment, distance learning best practices, and instructional technology integration.
  • Experience creating and delivering faculty/instructor training and development sessions.
  • Experience using emerging technology to support instructional objectives, such as course management systems, rich media, lecture capture, video-desktop conferencing, screen recording software and web tools.


Preferred Qualifications
  • College or University coursework in the area of: Educational Technology, Technology Integration, Instructional Systems Design, Distance Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Education, or closely related field.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Knowledge of best practices for technology usage within online learning environments
  • Knowledge of copyright and accessibility requirements for instructional materials in a higher education environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and problem-solving in a highly technical and fast-paced environment that is focused on providing quality service to the University community.
