Our Early Childhood Center has a Four Star Parent Aware rating, the highest possible rating. The Center offers aMontessori Children’s Houseand an Early Learning Program. The Montessori Children’s House supports children in developing independence through choice of purposeful work. We serve children ages 33 months to 6 years for families within and outside of the St. Catherine University community.

TheProgram Leaddevelops, leads and maintains a model program facilitating children’s self-creation and fosters social, spiritual, emotional, cognitive, physical and critical thinking skill development. Additionally, the Program Lead ensures a state of the art program that is a resources for Montessori students as a hands on experience for skill development. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing vision, direction and development for the Montessori Children’s House model of early childhood education
  • Developing curriculum and observation/assessment plans in alignment with theNAEYCAccreditation and Parent Aware expectations
  • Leading and guiding staff in the program, including training new staff and students
  • Teaching in the classroom and recording children’s progress
  • Conducting team meetings with program staff
  • Communicating with Parents including conference preparation, conferences and newsletters
  • Maintaining standards of practice for the program, Ensuring that the program meets the requirements ofNAEYC, Parent Aware, andDHSlicensing (Rule 3)
  • Overseeing the development and maintenance of the learning environment
  • Staying current with early childhood practices and theories

Minimum Qualifications
  • Montessori diploma or credential in Early Childhood (ages 3-6 yrs) from an accredited training program
  • Four (4) years of current experience working with an early childhood age group in a Montessori Children’s House
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree with an Early Childhood focus
  • Minnesota Early Childhood – Kindergarten license
  • Experience in child development, child development theory, observation, and assessment
  • Commitment to on-going professional growth.
  • Experience redirecting and guiding children in a developmentally appropriate manner
  • Experience resolving conflicts
  • Experience successfully leading a team to collaborate positively
  • Experience leading a team of peers and working with parents as partners
  • Flexibility and patience
