Job Description:

BASIC FUNCTION:

  • To work with students and staff to develop, implement and promote programs that enhance the quality of campus life at the University for all students.
  • This is considered an essential personnel position.
  • This is a live-in staff position with on-call administrator responsibilities for the 2021-2022 academic year.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, publicize and implement a comprehensive program of activities and events annually that has an impact on the quality of campus life. Work closely with the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and Activities Funding Board (AFB) in order to accomplish this objective.
  • Serve as advisor for Student Government Association.
  • Responsible for the supervision and management of the Student Engagement Office and the Gerety Hall Student Center.
  • Promote all activities of the office and ensure that the Student Engagement website is accurate and up to date. Represent the Student Engagement Office at Student Affairs and University meetings.
  • Maintain the Student Engagement Office budget in conjunction with the budget of the Activities Funding Board.
  • Responsible for reviewing and evaluating all Student Engagement Office vendors and performer contracts.
  • Manage the University's R25 scheduling program in relation to student activities.
  • Develop, support and motivate new as well as recognized student clubs and organizations and advisors.
  • Develop and deliver an experiential leadership development program for interested students.
  • Responsible for the coordination and implementation of the New Student and Family Orientation Programs and the production of all Orientation materials such as the Handbook and Family Calendar. Recruit, select, train and coordinate the orientation leader team.
  • Responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Explorientation Program in collaboration with Academic Affairs
  • Coordinate the commencement week calendar of Student Engagement including Commencement Ball, preside at Commencement Ball Committee meetings.
  • Responsible for the coordination and implementation of the First Year Experience Program and specifically the First Year Transitions Course (FYT100) and Transfer Transitions Course (FYT200). Recruit, select, train and coordinate the First Year Transition team.
  • Oversee the support and programming for the LGBTQA+ community on campus
  • Oversees the office-wide assessment efforts of student engagement learning outcomes
  • Responsible for the supervision and management of the eSports program
  • Serve in the 24-hour on-call administrator rotation, acting as a first responder when necessary.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate VP & Dean of Students


Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in student personnel, higher education or related field, with five years of progressive experience within a student affairs leadership position.
  • Working knowledge of event planning needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Strong supervisory and organizational skills are required with the ability to work cooperatively with large numbers of students, staff and faculty.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Must be people oriented with the willingness and ability to work with a traditional college-aged population.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, in addition to regular office hours, to fulfill departmental activity requirements.
  • This position involves traveling throughout the University and surrounding community and could, on occasion, require bending, reaching, ascending and descending stairs, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, and hearing.
