Cabling Specialist (Two Positions)

Responsibilities:
The Cabling Specialist will work closely with the Technical Services Director. Success in this role requires understanding of cable installation and telecommunications technology. The successful candidate will work with students, faculty and staff as required as required to resolve issues with telecommunications devices, installation of cabling, and maintenance of the campus cable plant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Install, maintain, move, repair, and document cabling and equipment as required.
• Locate underground copper and fiber cables across campus.
• Repair voice and data equipment, determine cable, wire and equipment needs for services requested.
• Test and verify proper operation of installed circuits and/or equipment.
• Obtain and maintain certification and training as required by management, and if necessary by manufacturers to maintain hardware warranty.
• Constantly learn new technologies to enhance campus computing environment.
• Complete work orders as assigned.
• Respond to issues in a timely and courteous manner.
• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Training in proper cabling installation and telecommunications system preferred.
• 1-4 years of experience installing structured cabling and telecommunications equipment.
• Ability to assess causes of technical problems and find solutions using logical troubleshooting methods.
• Ability to analyze complex problems to determine a solution.
• Ability to multitask.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Salary:
12 monthCommensurate with experience, qualifications, and university’s resources.
