Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; this is a temporary position to end on or before June 30, 2022 with a possibility of renewal on an annual basis if funds and/or program needs exist.

About the Position:
The Dean of Students Office helps Titans reach higher by serving as an advocate for students, connecting them to the appropriate university resources, and collaborating meaningfully with the campus community. We assist students in navigating the university and resolving educational, personal, and other concerns that impact the quality of their Titan experience. We are searching for a CalFresh Outreach Coordinator (Student Services Professional II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean for Care Services, the CalFresh Outreach Coordinator plans, implements, and leads campus-wide outreach, educational programs, and services that increase awareness of CalFresh benefits and applications of eligible CSUF students. The CalFresh Outreach Coordinator will significantly expand and enhance campus efforts that highlight the value of CalFresh, reduces the stigma associated with applying for CalFresh, and builds best practices that increase enrollment in this program. The CalFresh Outreach Coordinator will maintain a non-clinical caseload of students who seek food assistance including applying for CalFresh. Collaborates with the Basic Needs Center Coordinator and the ASI Food Pantry Coordinator on outreach programs to ensure consistency and maximize communication. The CalFresh Outreach Coordinator will maintain existing campus partnerships and seek relevant off-campus partners who may enhance campus programs. The CalFresh Outreach Coordinator meets all compliance, assessment, and evaluation reporting requirements per the AB-85: CalFresh Student Outreach and Application Assistance Grant. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or a related field. A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational management, research, and interview techniques. Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews, and advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters. Ability to reason logically and use initiative in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements. Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and of the overall organization.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in higher education or related field. Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Higher Education, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. One to two years of professional, post-graduate work in student affairs, preferably with students of concern, student conduct, or in crisis; students who experience basic needs difficulties.

Must have ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple interactions. Demonstrate an understanding of student development theory into practice and diversity-related issues pertaining college students. Ability to work independently, plan, organize, coordinate, and perform daily and long-range activities. Ability to exercise initiative and establish priorities. Knowledge of department and University policies and procedures to effectively support the operation of the department. Knowledge of student conduct and cares services—experience working with Maxient or record management system/software.
