With a dramatic increase in undergraduate and graduate enrollment and a new building that allows us to expand, our award winning and nationally ranked (#16 in best undergraduate programs) Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department is growing. To accommodate this robust growth, we seek energetic and innovative teacher-scholars, and invite applications for non-tenure-track, full-time teaching positions.

The successful candidates will be responsible for developing and teaching project-based courses in the ECE curriculum. Hence, candidates must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, a proven record of, or exceptional potential for developing innovative pedagogical approaches, courses, labs, and projects for a modern ECE curriculum.

Applicants with expertise in all fundamental areas of ECE are invited to apply, however, our greatest needs are in the following areas:

  1. Digital and embedded systems,
  2. Circuits & Electronics,
  3. Computer architecture,
  4. Control systems,
  5. VLSI design, and
  6. Electromagnetics .

The Department greatly values experiential and project-based learning, integrating emerging topics and technologies into the curriculum, and provides state-of-the-art equipment, instruments, rapid prototyping, fabrication, and computational resources to support such activities. Our dedication to project-based learning is reflected in our curriculum, as all our courses have lab/project components. As a result, we seek individuals who share this dedication, have the skills and passion to develop and deliver innovative hands-on lab projects and other experiential learning activities using appropriate modern tools. The position also includes service responsibilities, such as helping with the Department’s assessment activities. Therefore, any experience with assessment, pedagogy, and scholarship of engineering education would be very valuable. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to be involved with student projects in the Rowan Engineering Clinic sequence , and – if interested – contribute to the scholarly activities of our faculty and students.

Summary of primary responsibilities, then, include:

  • teaching core and elective ECE courses,
  • developing innovative curriculum components, including new courses in emerging areas,
  • mentoring and advising students, as well as student groups and clubs,
  • helping with Department's assessment efforts
  • contributing to our service activities to further our collective mission and vision at the department, college and university levels.

Ideal candidates must also embrace

  • interdisciplinary collaborations,
  • work with multi-disciplinary student and faculty teams,
  • be committed to diversity, equity and inclusion,
  • have excellent communication skills, and
  • have a genuine interest in student mentoring.

Applicants must have earned at least a Master of Science degree, preferably a PhD, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline. The appointment is non-tenure-track, with renewable multi-year contracts, based on performance, departmental needs and university and budgetary approvals. Rowan University does not support visa applications for this position, therefore, applicants must have current and permanent legal authorization to work in the United States.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.

For full consideration, applications should include the below-listed items: 1) a cover letter summarizing qualifications and the applicant’s interest in the position, 2) current and detailed CV, 3) a statement of teaching interests (including the list of courses the applicant feels most qualified to teach, as well as teaching philosophy), 4) a statement of diversity, inclusion and equity and 5) names and contact information for three references. Additional and supplemental documentation, such as examples of innovative course material developed by the candidate, student evaluations, or other relevant materials may also be provided. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Questions can be directed to polikar@rowan.edu , Dr. Robi Polikar, Department Head, Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. Additional departmental information can be found at http://www.rowan.edu/ece
