Position Summary:

The Research Specialist will work closely with the principal investigator to perform experiments related to the skin microbiome, including understanding the role of microbial communities in skin health, associated disease, and impaired wound healing. Lab work is multi-disciplinary and will include molecular, microbiological, bioinformatics, and in vivo methods.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree with a focus in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related field is required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Minimum 1 year experience in a research lab. A strong background in molecular biology, microbiology, and/or prior experience in experimental approaches to study the microbiome and/or skin and wound healing is desired. Applicants with experience in microbiome research and/or possessing bioinformatics skills desired. Prior experience with microbiology and handling microbiome samples including sequencing library preparation, PCR and quantitative PCR in high-throughput formats is highly desired.

Must be highly motivated with excellent time management skills; ability to organize and maintain accurate records; strong attention to detail; and the ability to work in a team environment and laboratory setting. Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and train others is desired.
