Position Summary:

The Qualitative Research Analyst will be a member of the Cancer Center Cessation Initiative (C3I) Coordinating Center based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Carbone Cancer Center led by Principal Investigator Dr. Betsy Rolland and Senior Scientist Dr. Michael Fiore. The incumbent will be supervised by the Project Scientist, Dr. Sarah Hohl. The Coordinating Center provides leadership and scientific support for investigators at 52 NCI-designated Cancer Centers across the US engaged in integrating smoking cessation services for cancer patients into local clinical workflows. This position will support the Project Scientist to analyze qualitative data that includes semi-structured interviews and program documentation to assess barriers and facilitators to program implementation, with the goal of enhancing tobacco use treatment program implementation in clinical cancer care, and to strengthen efforts to reduce disparities in tobacco and cancer-related health outcomes.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required; preferred focus: Social or Behavioral sciences, Public Health, Social Work, Anthropology, Health Services or related field.

Master's Degree in Public Health, Social Work, Anthropology, Health Services or a related field OR at least one year of experience in the field of public health research and/or practice preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required:
- Formal training and/or experience with applying analytic skills in qualitative methods, as evidenced by coursework or completed projects, including collecting, managing, and/or analyzing qualitative data.
- Experience working as part of a team that includes academic investigators, researchers, clinicians and/or community organizations to produce specified deliverables.

Preferred:
- Previous experience with qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti, Dedoose, MAXQDA)
- Strong interest in understanding and evaluating implementation science strategies to improve tobacco treatment and/or other health services delivery.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Highly organized and attentive to detail.
- Ability to balance multiple demands simultaneously under time constraints.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Interest in manuscript writing.
- Interest in quantitative analyses and quantitative data organization.

Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant professional work experience. A minimum of seven years of experience is required for appointment at the senior level.

- This is a terminal position lasting one year in duration.

Salary:

Minimum $45,643 ANNUAL (12 months)
