Position Summary:

LIS 616 Record Management and XML:
Under the general supervision of the Director of the Information School (iSchool), teach LIS 616: Record Management, in an online format during the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year.

LIS 622 Children's Literature:
Under the general supervision of the Director of the Information School (iSchool), teach LIS 622: Childrens Literature, in an online format during the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year.

LIS 632 Metadata Standards:
Under the general supervision of the Director of the Information School (iSchool), teach LIS 632: Metadata Standards, in an online format during the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

LIS 616 Record Management:
Minimum of a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies or closely related field required.

LIS 622 Childrens Literature:
Minimum of a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies or closely related field required.

LIS 632 Metadata Standards and XML:
Minimum of a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies or closely related field required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

LIS 616 Record Management and XML:
Experience working with electronic records systems. Knowledge of the role of records in society and the principles and practices involved in managing those records in private and public sector organizations. Experience teaching graduate students in an online format preferred.

LIS 622 Children's Literature:
Knowledge of traditional sources to the present required; criticism and evaluation; contemporary trends and issues in children's literature. Knowledge of techniques of reading guidance in school or public library in relationship to developmental interests, needs and skills of children required. Experience teaching graduate students in an online format preferred.

LIS 632 Metadata Standards:
Knowledge of controlled vocabulary for use in libraries and other information agencies required. Knowledge of metadata standards such as Dublin Core, MODS, and VRA required. Knowledge of creating and validating XML required. Experience implementing metadata required. Knowledge of linked data preferred. Experience teaching graduate students in an online format preferred.

Additional Information:

There is a possibility this position can be extended in subsequent semesters to teach one or more of the courses listed on this PVL, or similar courses within the department. This position may become renewable if there is a need for an ongoing appointment.
