Job Summary

As part of the college’s Toward Racial Justice strategic plan, the Project Coordinator/Facilitator will support the Office for Equity and Inclusion in implementing its Departmental Action Planning initiative. In an effort to continue the college’s work towards creating an inclusive community, departments will engage in their own action planning process designed to create more diverse and inclusive workplaces and more accessible ways of delivering goods and services, whether nonacademic or academic. To that end, the project coordinator/facilitator will support departments in implementing OEI’s action planning guide with these two broad goals in mind.

Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Essential Functions

Coordinate the implementation of OEI action planning

Support departments in the development and implementation of their action plans, including:

  • Arrange initial department orientation meetings with OEI

  • Coordinate sessions with departments and OEI

  • Coordinate monthly liaison meetings with departments

  • Connect departments new to action planning to experienced departments

  • Coordinate transfer of any relevant and shareable data to departments with IR and HR

  • Support survey development for information gathering in collaboration with IR

  • Facilitate focus groups for departments

  • Monitor departmental efforts in implementing action plans



Facilitation responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate department meetings aimed at action planning

  • Facilitate regular department liaison meetings

  • Facilitate foundational racial justice workshops

  • Offer team-building workshops for departments

  • Support the Trainer/Facilitator as needed



Other Functions

Other duties as assigned, including supporting other OEI initiatives

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)

A bachelor’s degree; 1-3 years of experience in: facilitating difficult conversations in environments that require customer service and project coordination in a team environment;
Experience working with stakeholders and constituencies from a wide range of identities, life experiences and backgrounds.

Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master’s in social justice education or equivalent

  • Project-based work experience in a college or university setting.

  • Facilitating groups/teams in complex workplace spaces

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and oral), project coordination, and presentation skills

  • Ability to work in a team setting, prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment, understand expectations, and take initiative.
